After an incredible display against Leipzig, jubilant Man City manager Guardiola calls the young player “one of the best he’s trained.”

Rico Lewis, a wunderkind for Manchester City, has received a ton of praise from PEP Guardiola.

The previous season, Lewis made his breakthrough under Guardiola.

The teenager’s development seems to be unstoppable following his spectacular performance in City’s Champions League victory (3–1) over RB Leipzig.

Pep Guardiola lavished praise on the 18-year-old

Even near the top of the pitch, Lewis was able to contribute to the action by setting up Phil Foden’s opening goal.

“He played good, huh?” Guardiola said to reporters as he considered the 18-year-old’s performance in the game. What a teammate. What an 18-year-old player.

“I’ve been managing for fourteen or fifteen years, developing amazing players.

He’s by far one of the best players I’ve ever trained when it comes to finding a player like him in the pockets and how he needs to move.

“He’s an incredible, superb player—outstanding.”

“[He] has a huge personality and can play in four or five positions,” Guardiola went on. He is not afraid; his defense is excellent.”

Despite Lewis’ present 5ft 7in height, the former Barcelona manager remarked that the one thing he was lacking was some height.

Lewis has made 29 appearances for the senior team at City.

Leipzig had scored early in the second half to tie the score.

However, superb Julian Alvarez was there to help secure the victory for City with a goal and an assist.

With two victories out of two, the outcome puts them atop Group G.

Last Saturday, City lost to Wolves for the first time this season.

On Sunday, they will pay a visit to Arsenal, who are currently undefeated in the Premier League.

After suffering an unexpected 2-1 loss to Lens last night, the Gunners may be without their key player Bukayo Saka for the upcoming weekend due to an injury.
