Defenseman Jean-Clair Todibo’s club Nice is hesitant to transfer him in January, despite Chelsea’s desire.
Tottenham reportedly held talks to recruit Ligue 1 player Todibo in December, according to Mail Sport.
Both Manchester United and Newcastle have him on their shortlists.
The 23-year-old joined Nice from Barcelona in 2021, and his contract is slated to end in 2027. He is valued at roughly £35 million.
The France international began his career in Toulouse’s development system and has since enjoyed stints with Benfica and Shalke, two of Catalonia’s biggest clubs, before relocating to the south of France.
Todibo, who has two caps for France, has been performing admirably for the Ligue 1 club as of late, drawing interest from clubs all around Europe.
He made 46 appearances for Nice last season in all competitions, and he has started fourteen of the games he has been available for in the French top-flight this season.
Chelsea, on the other hand, are considering a bid for the center back. Mauricio Pochettino is eager to strengthen Chelsea’s defense after a string of injuries.
Injuries have sidelined Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah, and also Marc Cucurella, Ben Chilwell, and Reece James are full backs who will not be playing any time soon.
Chelsea are expected to be active in the January transfer window, according to Pochettino.””’
He promised supporters something in January when they inquired what they may anticipate. Together with the owner and the sports director, we will examine the situation to determine how to alter the dynamics for the better in the second part of the season.
At the moment, we are in the middle of the table, but we know that we have to work hard to move ahead. We will assess our options once the transfer window opens.
This is just to check if people’s expectations are in line with reality; I’m not suggesting we cut back on players or add more.
Something is lacking in the middle if perception is at one end and reality is at the other end of the spectrum. A reality check can be helpful at times.
