When Argentina faced Paraguay, Lionel Messi was allegedly spat at by former Barcelona hopeful Antonio Sanabria. The Inter Miami player responded with the ideal answer.
Former Barcelona teammate Antonio Sanabria was compelled to retract his accusation of spitting at the superstar after receiving a severe response from Lionel Messi.
As tensions were about to explode, Argentina defeated their South American rivals 1-0 in World Cup qualification early on Friday morning. There were only five minutes remaining when Messi and Sanabria collided, and then the 36-year-old’s back was hit with spit.
The 27-year-old, who trained with Messi and the first team during his five years at the Barcelona academy, claimed that the spit was aimed at the striker, but not before the Inter Miami player voiced his opinions following the game.
Messi retaliated against TyC Sports, saying, “In the locker room, my teammates informed me about it.” It is preferable to ignore the problem.”
The seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or stated: “I don’t know who this guy is and I don’t want to give him importance either, because if he gets that he’s going to go out and talk everywhere and he becomes known.”
Sanabria responded by saying that the camera angle made it appear as though he had spit at Messi rather than just in his general direction. Sanabria, who spent long stints with Sassuolo, Roma, and Real Betis, has made an impression with Torino.
Messi was named a World Cup winner with his team back in December. He has made 29 appearances and scored two goals for his country.
After deciding not to retire in Qatar, the Inter Miami player is still going strong, striking the post twice in their 1-0 triumph.
Despite Messi’s recent club absence, Lionel Scaloni decided to take a chance by starting him off the bench in order to appease Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham.
It is crucial for Leo that we continue our training, the manager stated prior to the game. We will speak with him before to practice to determine whether or not he plays right away after observing him [looking] well.”
Argentina will play Peru in their next qualifier after winning all three of their previous games to lead the 10-team group. The top six teams in the group will automatically qualify for the tournament in 2026, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
