‘I didn’t know’… Roberto di Matteo admits Chelsea signed a player he wasn’t aware of when he was in charge

The signing of a player by the club that Roberto di Matteo was unaware of occurred during his tenure as manager of Chelsea, according to the former manager.

He admitted on the “Obi One” podcast that he was unaware of Oscar’s background when the Brazilian was added to the team.

While Di Matteo’s tenure as Chelsea manager was brief, the club’s accomplishments during his tenure will live on in the memories of every supporter.

Under his stewardship, the Blues achieved a treble (FA Cup and Champions League) and had arguably the most significant transfer window in club history.

Players like Cesar Azplicueta and Eden Hazard, who joined the club at an early age, became legends while they were here.

The Italian also claimed to have been unaware of Oscar prior to his arrival, suggesting that this inclusion caught him off guard.

It was Oscar, he said, that he knew so little about. He was taken up through the ranks of recruitment, and I had the impression that he would be more of a future leader.
