Arsenal can help fund Chelsea’s bid for Victor Osimhen thanks to smart Marina Granovskaia clause
The inclusion of a strategic clause by Marina Granovskaia can potentially enable Arsenal to provide financial support for Chelsea’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen.
According to a report from the Mirror, Arsenal is closely monitoring the performance of Marc Guehi, a defender for Crystal Palace and the England national team. The club has expressed its intention to pursue the acquisition of Guehi as a centre back in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Guehi has exhibited exceptional performance at Crystal Palace subsequent to his acquisition for a sum of £18 million from Chelsea in 2021, during the tenure of Patrick Vieira as the manager of the south London-based club.
The performances of the 23-year-old individual have garnered attention from prominent clubs in the Premier League, such as Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal.
According to a report by the Mirror, it has been asserted that the manager, Mikel Arteta, is actively promoting the interest of the Gunners. Furthermore, the report suggests that the club currently holds a favourable position in any prospective future negotiations.
According to the journal, it has been stated that Chelsea possesses a legal right to receive 25 percent of the proceeds from any future transfer, as a result of the inclusion of a sell-on provision by then-director Marina Granovskaia during the first transfer agreement with Crystal Palace.
Undoubtedly, the potential financial gain for the Blues is promising, given the prevalent reports indicating that Palace’s valuation for the youthful defence exceeds £60 million.
If such a scenario were to occur, Guehi’s move has the potential to provide a fraction of the financial resources that the Blues may allocate towards pursuing Osimhen.
The Nigerian player has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in the ongoing season, scoring six goals in ten matches. However, his rapport with the Italian champions has deteriorated since the club’s release of a film last month, which seemingly ridiculed Osimhen’s failed penalty attempt during a Serie A match against Bologna.
The peculiar incident occurs against the context of Osimhen’s failure to finalise a fresh contractual agreement with Napoli, the club with which he is presently contracted until the summer of 2025.
Chelsea, along with several other teams, have been associated with the acquisition of the striker. Additionally, there is speculation that both United and Liverpool are also interested in securing his services.
