In his second NBA preseason game, which took place on Friday at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat by a score of 120-104. Victor Wembanyama, who was selected with the first overall pick in the draft, exceeded expectations.
Wembanyama, who is only 19 years old, came into the league as the most anticipated talent since LeBron James. However, expectations have been tempered as of late, and consequently, not many people predicted his great performance on Friday. He played the final 23 minutes of the game and finished with a game-high 23 points.
The Spurs youngster also contributed an incredible three blocks and four assists, although he could only manage to pull down four rebounds.
Even though this was Wemby’s most outstanding performance to yet, he still has a lot of room for growth.Wembanyama is an excellent dribbler, and not just for a big man. In addition, he can knock shots from wherever on the court, although he still needs some work on his 3-point shooting.
The 7-foot-3 wonder had a shooting percentage of just 1 for 5 from outside the arc, but he was practically perfect from inside the arc, finishing with a field goal percentage of 10 for 15 overall.
Wemby will also need to concentrate on his rebounding, particularly on the attacking end of the court given that all four of his boards came on the defensive end. On Monday, the Spurs will play another exhibition game at home against the Houston Rockets.
