The Atlanta Braves witnessed their 2023 season come to a close on Thursday night, following a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in an elimination showdown. For the second consecutive year, the Phillies dealt a harsh blow to the Braves, making last year’s narrative a recurring nightmare for Atlanta.
Taking the mound, Spencer Strider faced numerous challenges from the formidable Philly lineup. He conceded three home runs, with Nick Castellanos contributing two of them. Strider’s final line featured 5.2 innings pitched, seven hits, three runs, seven strikeouts, and three walks.
The lone run for Atlanta was courtesy of Austin Riley, capitalizing on a Ranger Suarez error by launching a solo home run.
Despite having several opportunities to add to their tally, the Braves fell short in producing additional runs, resulting in their season ending at the hands of their NL East rivals once more.
