Carabao Cup third round draw: Man Utd to host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford

Manchester United will begin their defence of the Carabao Cup title next month with a third round tie against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils ended a six-year trophy drought last season by lifting the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United. They won by a convincing 2-0 scoreline.

Manager Erik ten Hag will want his players to replicate the feat this campaign. Palace will be the visitors for the third round of the competition.

The tie will be played on either September 26th or 27th at the Theatre of Dreams.

United get home advantage for another Cup tie

The Red Devils had good fortune with Cup draws last season. They got home ties in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup until the semi-final phase.

It is highly unlikely that United will get home advantage throughout this term, but they will start their defence of their League Cup at Old Trafford.

United should be favourites on paper against Palace next month, but the south London club can’t be taken lightly based on recent league meetings.

In the last 10 encounters, the Red Devils have won four games while drawing and losing three apiece.

Palace picked up two of those victories at Old Trafford, and United can’t be complacent. The fans will be hoping for a routine victory without any hiccups.

Altay Bayindir is currently on the verge of becoming United’s fourth summer signing. He could make his United debut in goal against Roy Hodgson’s side.
