Chelsea dismissed Nkunku’s request for this weekend

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea does not want to take risks with the case of rookie Christopher Nkunku.

Specifically, Christopher Nkunku wants to make his Chelsea debut when facing Newcastle next weekend. However, the Blues did not approve and are said to be in no hurry to bring the £52 million striker back after a serious knee injury.

The French striker suffered a meniscus injury and had to have surgery while playing for Chelsea in the pre-season match against Borussia Dortmund after completing his move from RB Leipzig. The 26-year-old player is working hard to train at the Cobham training center. Coach Mauricio Pochettino said recently that Nkunku is ‘really close’ to reaching match fitness.

Nkunku is eager to prove his fitness in the match against Newcastle, but Chelsea’s medical department plans to let him train gradually to achieve the best condition. That could mean Nkunku is unlikely to make his Chelsea debut until early December, with games against Brighton, Manchester United and Everton at this stage.
