Chelsea now looking to sign ‘fantastic’ £75m defender next summer

There is a possibility that Chelsea will consider re-acquiring Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

That is as per a statement published in The Sun.It is reported that Chelsea and Manchester United will ultimately consider signing Marc Guehi; while some clubs are already interested, all indications point to a bidding conflict occurring in the summer of 2020 as opposed to January.

Recently, TEAMtalk reported that Palace is seeking approximately £75 million for the center-back.Although the 23-year-old did not receive many first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea sold him to Palace in 2021, he remains appreciative of what the club has done for him.

“I was at the club for so long — since I was seven years old,” Guehi was quoted as saying by Goal after his move. “I am extremely grateful for everyone who has helped me get so far and it’s because of them that I’m here.”

Chelsea to consider re-signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will procure a new central defender in 2024. This development suggests that the Blues will acquire a central defender.

The Sun reports that Guehi could be a viable alternative and that he would not be a dreadful one.

Alan Shearer recently referred to the England international as “fantastic” on The Rest Is Football. He is establishing himself as an elite defender.

He has a second-highest average of 4.6 clearances per game for Crystal Palace this season (WhoScored). The former Chelsea player is demonstrating his prowess as a dangerous central defender.

Guehi does not appear to be a necessity for Mauricio Pochettino at this time. Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Wesley Fofana are all members of the Argentine’s current squad.

Undoubtedly, a few of those players’ futures are uncertain, and Fofana’s history of injuries will be a cause for concern.

However, until there are genuine departures, Chelsea has no reason to pursue Guehi, despite the fact that he has improved considerably.
