Chelsea Star Kepa Proposes to Former Miss Universe Spain Andrea Martinez After 9-Year Relationship

In a surprising turn of events, Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Spanish custodian, proposed to the beautiful Andrea Martinez, a former Miss Universe Spain, immediately following the conclusion of their 9-year relationship. Kepa took to his Instagram page to share this heartwarming announcement with his fans on the final day of the transfer window.

Initially eyeing a move away from Chelsea this summer, Kepa found himself pursuing a completely different kind of deal – a lifelong commitment. This twist in the tale comes after the goalkeeper spent a considerable period on the bench as the second-choice following the rise of Edouard Mendy.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, a 27-year-old footballer, is still recognized as the most expensive goalkeeper globally, with Chelsea having invested over 70 million euros to secure his services from Atletico Bilbao. While his first season in England showed promise, his fortunes waned swiftly in the second season, prompting the club to bring in Edouard Mendy.

Kepa’s relationship with Andrea Martinez became public knowledge in January, as reported by the Daily Mail. Notably, Martinez is a former basketball player who represented the Spanish U-15 national team. In light of recent questionable performances from Mendy and Chelsea’s uncharacteristically leaky defense, Kepa will be eager to reclaim his place in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

Despite his aspirations to feature in this year’s World Cup under Luis Enrique, Kepa’s chances appear doubtful. He had hoped for a transfer to Lazio under the management of his former boss Maurizio Sarri, but no offers materialized. However, Kepa certainly won off the pitch with Martinez agreeing to marry him. Andrea Martinez, a former Miss Universe Spain, clinched the prestigious title in 2020.
