Chelsea seemed poised for a third consecutive Premier League victory after Cole Palmer’s penalty and a fortuitous cross from Mykhailo Mudryk put them in control.

 

However, a critical mistake by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez altered the course of the game, as Arsenal managed to score twice in the span of eight minutes. While Chelsea was firmly in control, Sanchez’s disastrous clearance attempt landed directly at the feet of Declan Rice. His first-time strike pulled a goal back for the Gunners.

 

Leandro Trossard then equalized with a close-range finish at the far post, capitalizing on Bukayo Saka’s right-wing cross. This turnaround came after Chelsea, under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, had displayed a significant improvement. The impressive Cole Palmer had initially given Chelsea the lead from the penalty spot after a VAR review led to a handball penalty against William Saliba.

 

Just three minutes into the second half, Chelsea extended their lead when Mykhailo Mudryk seemed to be delivering a cross intended for Raheem Sterling but left on-loan Brentford goalkeeper David Raya red-faced, as his handling was unsteady throughout the match.
