Cole Palmer scuffing the penalty spot, Chelsea fans mentioned Garnacho

Chelsea fans were angry after 21-year-old midfielder Cole Palmer was booked for trying to destroy the penalty spot in the match against Man City in round 12 of the 2023/24 Premier League.

On the away trip at Stamford Bridge, Man City received a penalty kick after Marc Cucurella was penalized for fouling Erling Haaland in the penalty area in the 23rd minute. While VAR was working to check this ball more closely, the former Man City star Cole Palmer was given a yellow card by the referee for trying to destroy the penalty spot.

Unfortunately, Palmer’s effort was unsuccessful when Haaland showed bravery on the penalty spot, beating Robert Sanchez to open the score for the away team in the 25th minute. After Palmer received a yellow card, Chelsea fans were very angry. They believe that MU star Alejandro Garnacho did this in the past but did not receive a card.

On social networks, a Chelsea athlete complained about referee Anthony Taylor’s behavior:

Palmer received a card for trying to destroy the penalty spot, but Garnacho escaped twice. Where is the fairness? It seems that the rules of UEFA and the Premier League are at a certain point. One gets ticketed, one gets away with itCole Palmer got a yellow card and Garnacho did it twice without getting a card, it’s ridiculousDid you see Cole Palmer’s yellow card???? Anthony Taylor is terrible

Not long ago, Garnacho pulled off similar antics during MU’s Champions League match against Copenhagen. The Argentine did just that in the home match. Perhaps for that reason, Jordan Larsson’s 11m kick was blocked by Andre Onana to help MU win 1-0.
