David De Gea has returned to Manchester, following his departure from the team at the end of the previous season when his contract expired. For over a decade, he had been a standout player for the Red Devils. The 32-year-old, now a free agent, made his way back to England on Monday to attend to his £3.5 million residence in Hale, Cheshire.
The Sun reported that De Gea had spent the summer in Madrid with his wife, Edurne, and their two-year-old daughter, Yanay. Last night, he was spotted cheering on Manchester United’s women’s team as they played to a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain at Leigh Sports Village.
Today, De Gea met up with Sergio Reguilón and shared a photo of their reunion on Instagram, captioned with the words “Good to see you amigo.”
Although the two have been teammates for Spain’s national team, they’ve never played together for the same club. Some Manchester United supporters have expressed a desire to see their former goalkeeper, Andre Onana, return to Old Trafford due to recent errors and the mounting pressure on De Gea.
One fan quipped, “De Gea really seems eager for that contract.”
Another commented, “I hope Reguilon is convincing him to come back.”
Someone humorously noted, “He’s in Manchester more now than he was before.”
Reguilon is currently recovering from an injury, and reports suggest he participated in a confidential friendly match against Barnsley yesterday.
It is believed that De Gea is in no rush to secure a new team and will patiently await the right opportunity.
