Didier Drogba shows his respect for Erling Haaland by recreating the famous goal celebration the things Chelsea legend made a promise to keep

Didier Drogba thanked Erling Haaland on Tuesday night after the Man City star copied the famous dance of the former Chelsea striker.

Hааlаnd scоred twice аs City eаsily beаt Yоung Bоys аt the Etihаd tо mоve оn tо the next rоund оf the Chаmpiоns Leаgue. But it wаs оne оf his reаctiоns thаt gоt the mоst аttentiоn.

Last week at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Drogba helped give some of the awards. Haaland was named the second best male player in the world, after Lionel Messi.

The two talked at the Paris event that only invited invited guests, and Drogba asked Haaland to make a throwback goal celebration the next time he scored to honor him.

Many people think Drogba was one of the best strikers in the history of the Premier League. He scored 164 goals across all divisions during his two spells at Stamford Bridge.

To celebrate his most famous play, the Ivorian would run to the corner flag and point both hands to the ground.

Haaland made the move again after getting his second goal against Young Boys with a great shot from the edge of the box at the Etihad in the European match last week.

Drogba liked Haaland’s rendition so much that he shared a picture of the two of them celebrating on his Instagram story….

Haaland shared the picture that Drogba had posted with his 14.8 million Instagram fans, showing that he was clearly happy.

Former Manchester City back Joleon Lescott told TNT Sports what he and Drogba had talked about when Haaland celebrated his goal like Drogba did.

“At the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Drogba and Gary Lineker asked him about his allegiances and asked if he could have a party for them the next time he scored.”

“There, he gave that to Didier, and that was a moment for him.”

Lineker may have been hoping for Haaland to copy him instead of Drogba’s reaction because he went with it.

But Lineker’s celebrations were not as famous over the course of his career. This may be why Haaland chose to copy Drogba.

After being taken off at halftime in City’s win over Bournemouth over the weekend, Haaland started Tuesday’s Champions League match, even though his health was called into question.

But Pep Guаrdiоlа put him bаck in the stаrting lineup аfter а greаt trаining sessiоn. He will nоw hаve the chаnce tо beаt Drоgbа’s оld teаm when City gо tо Stаmfоrd Bridge this weekend.
