Dr. Dre acquired this beach villa for $4.8 million in 2000, now its value has skyrocketed

Renowned rapper, hitmaker, Beats founder, and billionaire extraordinaire, Dr. Dre, is parting ways with his Malibu beachfront retreat of over two decades. The 57-year-old Compton native is openly listing the Malibu estate, formerly home to his ex-wife Nicole Young, with an asking price of $20 million.

Even if the mansion sells for less than the 2000 purchase price ($4.8 million), Dre stands to make a significant profit, considering the rising Malibu home values over the past 22 years. Situated on a nearly 7,000-square-foot property on Carbon Beach, one of the city’s most expensive areas, the three-story mansion boasts a unique position.

Described as a “contemporary beach estate,” the opulent house, constructed in the early 1990s, features floor-to-ceiling glass walls, providing abundant natural light and river views from every room. The entrance leads to a small lobby, guiding visitors to a spacious great room ideal for entertaining.

The room showcases a stunning stone fireplace and sliding glass doors opening to a beach-view balcony, secured by gates, a courtyard-style entrance, and a sophisticated security system.

Additional open-concept living areas include a recording studio, a sizable gym, an executive office, a primary bedroom with a sauna, fireplace, sitting area, private balcony, and a primary closet, along with five guest bedrooms. With around 9,000 square feet, this residence stands among the larger ones on Carbon Beach.

This isn’t Dr. Dre’s first attempt to sell the Malibu vacation home, previously occupied by Nicole Young during their divorce. A decade ago, the Pacific Coast Highway property was briefly listed for sale with an asking price ranging from $11 million to $12.5 million.

Following his formalized divorce from Young in December, where she reportedly received a $100 million lump sum, Dre retained ownership of all their residences, including the $40 million Brentwood estate from Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, the $40 million Malibu mansion, and two Calabasas mansions. Dre’s current net worth is estimated at $400 million, according to Forbes.
