Liverpool has set its sights on Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie as a potential addition to their squad, but as of now, Leverkusen has not received any offers for the player.
Jurgen Klopp may be considering strengthening his defense before the transfer window closes, and Hincapie, a defender for Leverkusen, is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar.
Leverkusen, however, is not eager to part with the player, and it has been suggested that it would require a fee exceeding €70 million to secure his transfer away from the BayArena this summer.
Despite Leverkusen’s reluctance, it appears that Hincapie would be open to a move to the Premier League. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, he would welcome a switch to the English top-flight.
If Liverpool does make a move for Hincapie, it’s possible that he would actively seek the transfer, particularly if a bid in the vicinity of €40 million is submitted.
Whether Liverpool will make a serious effort to acquire the defender before the transfer window closes remains uncertain. The Reds might also be looking to sign another midfielder, given the unexpected departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer.
Hincapie, aged 21, was acquired by Leverkusen in the summer of 2021 and has since gained regular playing time in the Bundesliga.
