The former captain of the Belgian national team everyone in October by announcing his retirement from football. His finest season was with Chelsea.

In 352 games with the Blues, Hazard became a legend in west London as he scored 110 goals and assisted on another 92.

Though he was a great player overall, Mikel had previously referred to him as the “worst trainer” he had ever worked with, despite his many admirable qualities.

Hazard left Chelsea after seven years to join Real Madrid, although he struggled mightily with injuries throughout his time there.

Mikel remembered what the former Blues star said him was the root of the problem, therefore it was probably a determining factor in his choice to retire at the young age of 32.

He made the following statement when appearing on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “I was talking to him the other day, he said to me, ‘Mikel, it’s not like I was not trying.'”

He reflected on his time in Madrid and decided, “Okay, I’ll give it a shot, I’ll put in some effort.” However, my body couldn’t handle the increasing number of injuries I was experiencing.

“I walked away from it because I thought, ‘You know what? I’m just going to quit.'” “What am I going to do? I’ve gotten offers to go to Saudi Arabia,” he remarked. I’m flush with cash at the moment; I have no pressing financial need for more.

“Should I go to Saudi Arabia, where I’ll take a million dollars every week, and then what?” A few of offers to go to Saudi came his way, he told me. “Listen, Mykel, I’ve got a tonne of cash on hand.”You are aware of my lifestyle, he told me. “Yeah, I know,” I responded. “I don’t spend too much money,” he said. We all know he doesn’t since he’s not the kind to flaunt his wealth; instead, he rocks the same pair of Nike sneakers for years on end.

“He said, ‘I can now afford to live with my family and raise [my children] because I don’t spend money.'”

Hazard and Real Madrid mutually decided to end his contract in June after he only appeared in 76 appearances over four seasons.

After winning the Premier League twice, La Liga twice, the Champions League, and a slew of other big and individual awards, he decided to retire four months later.
