Man City is preparing for a two-week pre-season tour of the United States this summer, with Pep Guardiola’s team facing four games against elite European opposition, including a encounter with Chelsea

Manchester City are contemplating a longer pre-season tour of the United States this summer, which will include a match against Chelsea as one of four stops.

As they make their first return to America since 2022, the Premier League champions will play four friendlies, three of which will be against elite European opposition.

Pep Guardiola’s team will face Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio, as they prepare for the new season.

City will stay in New York, Orlando, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina as part of a camp that is slated to run about a fortnight before the 2024-25 season.

City has joined with FC Series, which hosted its maiden summer competition last year with Chelsea and Arsenal and participated in the Premier League Summer Series.Their final game is scheduled for August 3, two weeks before the Premier League season begins and seven days before the Community Shield, in which they will play the Wembley Stadium curtain-raiser.

Guardiola’s tours have typically lasted about ten days and included three matches, including two in Tokyo last year before a brief trip in South Korea’s capital, Seoul.The European Championship, which concludes on July 14, will determine the composition of Guardiola’s squad. Previous pre-seasons in tournament years have seen various players join the club at different times, depending on how their country performs.
