Erling Haaland looks to ignore Gary Lineker as the Manchester City player honors his Ballon d’Or promise during the Young Boys match

After scoring against Young Boys on Tuesday night, ERLING HAALAND snubbed Gary Lineker with a Didier Drogba homage.

Manchester City’s hero kept his Ballon d’Or promise by imitating Chelsea icon Jose Mourinho’s famed scoring celebration.

With his goal celebration, Haaland, 23, parodied Lineker, 62, as City thrashed the Swiss team 3-0 in the Champions League group stage.

After scoring a penalty, the goal machine sprinted to the corner flag, pumping his arms out to the side, exactly as Drogba used to do.

He promised the Chelsea legend that he would celebrate at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Drogba and Lineker co-hosted the famous football awards presentation.

And the Ivorian legend challenged the Norwegian sensation to emulate his goal celebration or Lineker’s signature ‘fist pumping’ celebration the next time he struck the back of the net.

Drogba was quoted as saying: “For your next goal, I challenge you, you have to choose between the Didier Drogba celebration and the Gary Lineker celebration, if you accept the challenge, of course?”

“We’ll see about the next goal,” Haaland answered. I celebrate in the moment, so when I score my next goal, I’ll think of both of you and decide!”

City’s next match after winning the Ballon d’Or was a 6-0 demolition of Bournemouth.

However, Haaland did not score in the Premier League match.

He made up for it on Tuesday night against Young Boys with a penalty in the 23rd minute and a second-half goal.

Laura Woods, responding to Haaland’s homage, questioned, “Do you reckon if he scores again, he’ll do one for Gary Lineker?”

In response, England legend Rio Ferdinand said, “I don’t think he’d have seen one of Gary Lineker’s celebrations, would he?”

Thanks to Haaland’s double blast and Phil Foden’s goal, City advanced to the next round of the European competition.

Fans will now have to wait and see if Haaland will pay tribute to Lineker in the Citizens’ next match against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
