Palmer had received a yellow card earlier in the game for scuffing up the penalty spot.
The penalty was awarded when Marc Cucurella was ruled to have fouled Erling Haaland, but Jamie Carragher disagreed.
Palmer cost Chelsea £42.5 million during the summer transfer window and has established himself as one of the club’s key players this season.
Fans have praised him as the player they expected Mason Mount to become.
