FANS are convinced that the Premier League is “corrupt” after Jack Grealish was not punished for a shove.
Manchester United’s Sofyan Amrabat collided with Manchester City’s Phil Foden shortly before halftime, with the visitors leading 1-0.
Jack Grealish then put himself between the two and shoved Amrabat
Referee Paul Tierney decided not to card Grealish for the push
Instead, only Amrabat and Foden were punished
As the atmosphere at Old Trafford grew, the pair squared off and exchanged words.
Grealish, 28, then went over to assist his teammate.
When Grealish came on the scene, he put his hand on Amrabat’s chest and forcibly pushed him away.
The incident took place directly in front of referee Paul Tierney.
However, he ruled that no penalty would be meted out to the former Aston Villa player.
Instead, he issued yellow cards to Amrabat and Foden for their roles in the incident.
Fans were outraged by the judgment on social media, claiming that if it had been the other way around, a hefty penalty would have been handed out.
“Greaish hits Amrabat in the chest right in front of the referee, and NOTHING is given,” one fan said. Casemiro would have been imprisoned for this.”
“Casemiro would’ve gotten a red for that,” a second remarked.
Another stated, “The system is so corrupt.”
“@FA_PGMOL retrospective action for Grealish hitting Amrabat in the chest?” wrote a fourth. No!”
“He was literally the most out-of-order player in the clip, yet Amrabat and Foden get the card?” questioned another. “Refereeing makes no sense; I’m losing interest in this game by the week.”
“If it was our player,” said a sixth. “10-match suspension!”
Participating party Man City’s third goal of the afternoon came from Foden as Pep Guardiola’s side cruised to a 3-0 victory.
Erling Haaland set up Foden for his goal, but he also scored twice.
Man United have now lost as many home games since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as they did during his tenure.
Under Ferguson, the Red Devils played 405 home games and 196 games since, losing 34 in both instances.
