According to Jorge Nicola’s report, discussions are currently underway between Thiago Silva and Fluminense regarding a potential move next year.

While there have been rumors linking the veteran Brazilian defender to Saudi Arabian clubs, a return to Fluminense seems to be a more likely scenario. Silva has been a valuable asset for Chelsea since joining the club, but considering his advanced age, it is understandable that the club may be looking to find a replacement for him soon.

It would be ideal for Silva to make a comeback to Fluminense at this stage of his career. He has already proven himself in European football with AC Milan, PSG, and Chelsea, establishing himself as a world-class defender. However, it is clear that he is entering the twilight of his career, and a move back to Brazil would provide him with an opportunity to continue playing at a reasonably high level.

Chelsea has recently made investments in talented young defenders, but it remains to be seen if they can adequately fill the void left by Silva’s departure. In addition to his defensive abilities, Silva has brought experience and leadership qualities to the Chelsea dressing room. Replacing him will undoubtedly be a challenging task for the club.

After a disappointing campaign in 2022/23, Chelsea will be determined to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League. The success of Mauricio Pochettino’s side in achieving this goal will impact their ability to attract a quality replacement for Silva. Without Champions League football, it will be an uphill battle for Chelsea to find a suitable successor.

As for Thiago Silva, the 39-year-old defender will be hoping to end his career on a high note. Winning a significant trophy in the coming seasons would be a dream ending to his illustrious career. A move back to Brazil could potentially prolong his playing days and allow him to be closer to his family, providing a fulfilling conclusion to his football journey.
