Former Manchester United player Erik ten Hag supports Sir Jim’s efforts to restructure the club’s football department after being dissatisfied with the team’s recruitment

Erik ten Hag will likely approve of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans to completely revamp Manchester United’s football department as part of his efforts to improve the club’s standing.

United sources have informed Mail Sport that the manager has exhibited signs of discontent at the club’s recruitment throughout his 18 months in command, with a lack of transparency over recruitment goals and budgets, a lack of data, and a propensity to overpay for players standing out as major concerns.

Although they haven’t spoken in a while, Ten Hag and Ratcliffe are known to have a history together thanks to Ratcliffe’s ownership of Nice; the two also apparently ran into each other at United’s Carrington training ground in March, when United’s management gave the British billionaire a tour of the club’s facilities.

Given Ineоs’ success in imprоving fооtball, cycling, and sailing, Ten Hag is prоbably excited abоut Ratcliffe’s planned investment, and the Bоard meeting оn Thursday is expected tо apprоve his £1.3 billiоn bid.

The ex-Ajax manager is a cycling lover and sought for advice from the sporting director of Dutch team Jumbo-Visma Merijn Zeeman by inviting him to United’s winter training camp in the previous year.

However, not everyone at United is on board with Ten Hag’s approach to the club’s transfer business. The lack of transparency around United’s transfer finances over the last two summers has caused internal misunderstanding regarding the identification of transfer targets.

United spent £180m on six new players, well beyond the initial £60m budget set by the Glazer family, which was primarily accounted for by the £55m signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea in July.

United’s final offer to Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund grew from £50 million to £72 million since the club lacked a firm budget. Since the hiring of John Murtough as football director, United has been working closely with Ten Hag for the past 18 months, and they feel confident in their recruitment setup as a result.

Since John Murtough, who works closely with Ten Hag, was hired as football director a few years ago, United fans have felt more optimistic about their recruitment system.
