CINCINNATI — On Tuesday, Frankie Montas signed his formal one-year deal with the Reds after passing his physical.
Regarding his one-year deal, new information surfaced. According to Mark Feinsand, the agreement includes a $20 million mutual option for the 2025 campaign. Although it could be pricey, it’s a viable option that should be considered by both parties.
Due to a shoulder injury, Montas missed the most of the previous campaign. When healthy, he is a reliable starting pitcher with a high ceiling. Both parties may be interested in the mutual option if he throws well. In 2025, there will be a $2 million buyout included.
