Get Your First Look At The Next Generation Of Adidas X From Chelsea legend Timo Werner

While the German international has been testing out the newest generation of X as adidas prepares for its impending release, Chelsea’s new boy Timo Werner has been working his way through the trials at Cobham.

After leaving RB Leipzig for Chelsea this summer, Timo Werner impressed in his first training session at Cobham, displaying both his skill and the new X factor. In stark contrast to the prototypes’ blacked-out appearance, the new launch features a sleek white base. These boots have an otherworldly quality about them thanks to the Three Stripes, which appear on the outstep in a faded golden hue. Perhaps as a nod to the X’s origins, the tongue region features a reverse adidas emblem that harkens back to the brand’s earlier 99 gram boots and older F50s.

From a technological standpoint, it appears like the boots have undergone a significant redesign. There seems to be a revamped soleplate on the bottom, and a new stretch material running through the tongue area on top, which could enhance fit and lockdown. Aside from enhancing ball feel and control, the upper has been renovated beyond the collar/tongue area, as the phrase “MIRAGESKIN” appears down the medial side of the boot, indicating that the rework has extended beyond that area. This contributes to the boot’s sleek, speed-inspired appearance.

A new pack featuring this next-gen X is likely to be released in the near future, especially considering that all of adidas’ key players have been seen wearing fresh colorways this week.
