Lakers great Michael Cooper takes issue with LeBron James eating on bench in preseason game
After the game, LeBron James took off his uniform and refueled with some food on the bench.
One former Lakers star took offense to that.
During the second half of the Lakers’ preseason game against the Warriors on Friday night, five-time NBA champion Michael Cooper took issue with James eating on the bench.
Cooper stated, “I didn’t like that,” on the most recent episode of his “Showtime with Coop” podcast. You’ve got to have some respect for the sport, even though he is LeBron James. I don’t mind him eating, but he should do it in the locker room and then join the rest of the squad on the field instead of sitting at the end of the bench.
James, 38, had 12 points, five assists and two rebounds in 18 minutes before he changed into street attire for the rest of the night.
He made his second exhibition appearance of the season, following up his 10 point, 5 assist, 3 board performance against the Nets on October 9.
Cooper, at 67 years old, spent 12 years with the Lakers and helped them to five NBA titles in the 1980s.
The guard has been named to the All-Defensive Team eight times and won the Defensive Player of the Year award for the 1986–1987 season.
Cooper served as an assistant coach for the Lakers from 1994 to 1997, and then went on to do the same for the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.In аԀԀitiоn tо his time аs аn аssistаnt аnԀ interim heаԀ cоаch fоr the Nuggets, Mаlоne hаs been the heаԀ cоаch fоr the Spаrks twice, the аlbuquerque ThunԀerbirԀs оf the NBа Ԁevelоpment Leаgue оnce, the USC wоmen’s teаm оnce, аnԀ the аtlаntа Ԁreаm оnce.
