Liverpool have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to recruit midfielder Ryan Gravenberch for 40 million euros (£34.25 million), along with 5 million euros (£4 million) in add-ons.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave the familiar keyword “Here we go” to confirm Gravenberch’s transfer from Bayern to Liverpool.
The Dutchman has been given the green light to move to Merseyside to sign a five-year contract. The deal is worth €40m (£34.25m), with €5m (£4m) in add-ons. In total, Gravenberch’s price tag is 45 million euros (£38.5 million).
An agreement has been signed between the two clubs and Gravenberch’s agent, Jose Fortes Rodrigues, after negotiations accelerated on Wednesday.
Gravenberch becomes Jurgen Klopp’s fourth midfield signing this summer, joining Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.
The 21-year-old has been a long-term target of Liverpool. Theo Kop missed out on signing for Gravenberch when he moved to Bavaria from Ajax last summer. But after a disappointing season in the Gray Tigers shirt, Gravenberch wanted to leave. And in the end he chose to join the Red Brigade.
Gravenberch is planning to arrive on Merseyside as early as Thursday evening local time to put the final touches on the transfer. He needs to register with the Premier League organizers before 12 noon on Friday to be able to make his debut against Aston Villa this weekend.
At Liverpool, Gravenberch will play with compatriots Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo. He also became the 12th Dutch player to play for the Red Brigade.
