Graham Potter, who was formerly the manager of Chelsea, is aiming to return to club management after “turning down” an offer to become the head coach of Sweden.
As the Swedish Football Association searches for a successor to departing head coach Janne Andersson, Graham Potter allegedly declined a contact.
When Sweden did not make it past the qualifying round for Euro 2024 in Germany, the Swedish FA announced in October that Andersson would be stepping down from his position.
With a 2-0 victory over Estonia on Sunday, Andersson stepped down as head coach, but he stayed on for their last two qualifiers as the recruitment process got underway.
The inclusion of Potter, a former manager of Brighton and Chelsea, on their shortlist was confirmed last month by Andrea Mollerberg, the Swedish FA’s secretary general.
Aftonbladet, a Swedish daily, reports that Potter has turned down the opportunity to be considered for the position on the national squad.
The 48-year-old Potter allegedly expressed a desire to go back into club management.
From 2011 until 2018, he was the manager of the Swedish team Ostersunds, where he had a great run.
Under Potter’s direction, Ostersunds achieved three promotions in five years, won the Swedish Cup in 2017, and went on an impressive Europa League run.
The Swedish teаm оstersund beаt аrsenаl 2-1 аt the Emirаtes Stаdium, but the Gunners аdvаnced tо the next rоund.
After achieving great success with Ostersunds, Potter took leadership of Swansea. He then had a remarkable stint at Brighton.
He is still unemplоyed after a disastrоus stint as Chelsea’s manager, during which he was fired in April after оnly seven mоnths оn the jоb.
The manager of Hacken, Per-Mathias Hogmo, is reportedly one of the main candidates to replace Andersson, according to Swedish media.

Belgium won the Euro 2024 qualification group, with Andersson’s squad finishing third with 10 points, nine behind second-place Austria.
On Sunday, as his seven-year reign came to a close, the 61-year-old was honored for leading Sweden to the 2018 World Cup and 2020 European Championships.
