Green takes the fall for the Warriors’ inaction against the Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Warriors 138-136 in overtime on Friday at Paycom Center, and there were numerous reasons why.

That is demonstrated by the Golden State team’s season-high 29 turnovers.

Warriors forward Draymond Green, however, took responsibility for the team’s lack of urgency against the youthful and competitive Thunder club, who has now won three of the team’s four meetings this season, when he spoke with reporters following the game.

“I don’t feel the urgency we need to have and that’s on me,” Green stated. “I’ll do a better job of making sure the me𝚗 have the necessary urgency, but it hasn’t materialized. In that department, you cannot claim to be in charge when things are going well and to be subordinate when they are not. Thus, I accept it and resolve to ensure that this team plays with greater urgency, which I will do.”

For the countless times this season following a defeat, the Warriors, from head coach Steve Kerr to guard Steph Curry to Green, have been questioned about the reason behind their inconsistencies.

Curry acknowledges that he is unsure, but he is also impatient with guesswork and feels that the Warriors must make a decision quickly.

“Dude, I have no idea. We need to find a way to put an end to the discussion and do action, or otherwise you’ll have the same issue come January,” Curry said. If it’s something we can manage, we must take action if we want to be taken seriously as a team. I really must go do it because I’m getting a little tired of talking about it.”

While a number of important Warriors players, including Green, Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, and Gary Payton II, have missed time due to ιnjury this season, veterans like Wiggins and Klay Thompson have struggled for a significant portion of the season. Furthermore, the rotations have been adjusting and shifting.

To put it plainly, not much consistency has occurred.

The Warriors will undoubtedly benefit from Paul and Payton’s returns, which will restore their unity and provide some steadiness while they look for answers.

But they will have another challenging test at Footprint Center on Tuesday when they play the Phoenix Suns.
