During an interview with BILD, Ilkay Gundogan discussed his plans for the future as well as his ties to the Manchester City club. Specifically, he discussed his relationship with the club. BILD was the magazine that was responsible for conducting the interview. When asked about the prospect of extending his contract with Manchester City if the club provided a term that was longer than one year, Gundogan gave the following response to the question: “If the club offered a term that was longer than one year, I would definitely consider it.”
They made a proposal to enter into negotiations with me when the contract I had been working under with Manchester City was due to expire. It’s possible that things would have gone differently if something similar had occurred just a little bit earlier in time.
He went on to remark that he was satisfied with how things had turned out at Manchester City and said:
“I believe that it’s a fitting conclusion, and I couldn’t have come to Barcelona at a more opportune time,” she added. “I could not have come to Barcelona at a more opportune time.” Another of my lifelong ambitions has been to one day don the uniform of FC Barcelona as a member of their playing staff.
Gundoan also shared that he kept up a tight relationship with his previous team by attending the majority of their games via television broadcasts and staying in touch with both his former teammates and the coaches. After getting back to Manchester before the start of the season, he and Riyad Mahrez threw a going-away party, and all of the other Manchester City players were there to celebrate.
Despite the fact that he has moved to Barcelona, he still maintains connections to Manchester City. He plans to stay in touch with his prior club, as well as his former teammates and coaches, despite the fact that he is now based in Spain.
