ERLING HAALAND is paying for 200 fans’ travel expenses to see his old team by spending thousands of his own money.
In order to help Bryne FK supporters travel to Kristiansand for their play-off match against Start, the Manchester City star has volunteered to pay up to £10,400.
Haaland played for the club in his youth
Before relocating to Molde in 2017, Haaland, 23, played for the Norwegian team in his early years.
Long before he was regarded as one of the top strikers in Europe, the forward made his professional debut for Bryne in 2015.
According to TV 2, he has maintained the team near and dear to his heart by assisting its supporters in getting to the important game.
It was not anticipated that Bryne would take home the final OBOS League qualification spot.
Haaland will now pay NOK 698 (£52) for the train tickets purchased by fans, for a total estimated cost of £10,400.
It has also been stated that Haaland has offered to cover the cost of bus tickets for supporters who choose not to use the train.
“It is a secret question regarding who treats the fans from the club’s side,” Bjorn Hagerud Roken, marketing manager for Bryne FK, said to TV 2.
“All we can say is that it’s great that we have the chance to send as many fans to Kristiansand as we can.
Financial hardships make it more difficult for some people to prioritize going to a game like this one.
“This has, therefore, given more fans the opportunity to travel.”
Ole Morten Hobberstad, a spokesman, continued, saying: “The town of Bryne is particularly appreciative of Erling’s desire to finance a trip for the supporters.
“It also contributes to the fact that several people who perhaps did not prioritize it in the first place due to price growth and interest rate increases are now traveling to support Bryne in the promotion qualification.”
Starting on Saturday, Bryne will play Start. Originally, the announcement of the free trip was attributed to an “anonymous sponsor”.
Haaland’s generosity with his fortune is not a new occurrence in his career.
He gave a high-end watch to each member of his team and the club staff when he left Borussia Dortmund.
