ERLING HAALAND’s stress fracture in his foot will prevent him from playing for Manchester City against Luton.
The striker is not available for the trip to Kenilworth Road despite having started every Premier League game for City this season.
As a result, City will be without their leading scorer as they attempt to snap a four-game losing streak.
Prior to this afternoon’s match, Pep Guardiola, the manager, stated: “He has a stress reaction in his foot.” He felt this way after the last game against Aston Villa, and he is unable to play.
“I’m not sure [whether it’s harmful]. Let’s see what transpires day by day and week by week.”
Haaland has scored 14 goals in 15 Premier League outings, but in City’s previous two games against Tottenham and Aston Villa, he was unable to reach the back of the net.
In Haaland’s absence, Julian Alvarez might start up front while Rodri and Jack Grealish are expected to return from suspension.
The two missed Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Villa due to their accumulation of five yellow cards.
Jeremy Doku, however, is still questionable after being injured and missing the trip to Villa Park.
That implies that, barring Guardiola’s decision to once more start Rico Lewis in the middle, Bernardo Silva or Phil Foden might play as a No 10.
Haaland, 23, is said to have been dealing with a foot problem for the past few weeks.
Haaland might be ruled out of the forthcoming matches against Crystal Palace and Red Star Belgrade.
League leaders Liverpool, who defeated Palace on Saturday, are seven points ahead of City.
With the Citizens preparing for the Club World Cup, Pep Guardiola will be hoping that Haaland regains his fitness soon.
