Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Roadster, America’s 1800 horsepower open-top racing monster

A new iteration of the 1,800 horsepower F5 Venom has been unveiled by American boutique hypercar manufacturer Hennessey Performance Engineering. Presenting the new Hennessey F5 Revolution Roadster, an open-top variant of the lighter, track-focused F5 Revolution from the firm that debuted earlier this year. The Quail during Monterey Car Week is where the Roadster version is scheduled to make its public premiere the following week. The 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that powers the Revolution Roadster has the same 1,817 horsepower as the other F5 Venom models. A removable top panel is the only noticeable difference between the Roadster and the coupe variant, otherwise they are nearly identical.

Because the detachable roof is made of carbon fiber, its weight is reduced to just 18 pounds. Four quick-release bolts and two high-strength latches that hold the Alcantara-lined panel in place at speeds that break records are used to fasten it.

In addition, Hennessey asserts that the Roadster is just as stiff and tough as the coupe version, making it ideal for usage on racetracks, and that the structural rigidity of the carbon fiber monocoque remains untouched even with the roof sliced off. The Revolution models are designed to perform better on racing circuits by including several aerodynamic characteristics and lighter components.

The F5 Revolution Roadster has an engine cover made of tempered glass, which is said to be four times stronger than regular glass, and a body composed entirely of carbon fiber. Massive front and back splitters as well as a redesigned rear wing are part of the aggressive aero package. Air is also fed into the V8 engine by a huge air scoop located just above the cabin. Only 12 Roadster versions, of which only five are available in the “Bare Carbon” appearance seen in these photos, according to Hennessey.

The open-top hypercar starts at $3 million, so it’s hardly surprising that all the available models have already been claimed. Hypercars made by Hennessey are highly sought after, particularly by collectors and celebrities. Michael Jordan, the basketball legend, recently received a $3.5 million F5 Venom Roadster.
