How the Los Angeles Dodgers may get three-time MVP Mike Trout in a trade for him

The Dodgers’ summer discussions have naturally centered around Angels star Shohei Ohtani as the Major League Baseball season approaches. He is the most desirable free agent option, and the Dodgers intend to continue making a determined effort to sign him.

However, if star outfielder Mike Trout becomes available in a trade, that could be a good fit for LA. If the Angels have another disappointing year, they may decide to deal away one of their veterans this offseason.

While Trout hasn’t specifically requested a trade, he is well aware that his time with the Angels is coming to an end and that he is not getting any younger. Perhaps he finally has had enough this offseason.

The positive aspect of a trade for Trout is that he remаins a high-quality player when healthy and in action. Unfortunately, ιnjury kept him from playing more than 82 games this year. Despite this, he had a dismal year at the plate, hitting just.263 with 18 home runs and 44 RBI.

However, the Angels would have to send a substantial sum of money along with Trout due to the latter’s remaining contract. He is due to receive $35 million annually from 2020 through 2030, and the Dodgers have no interest in paying that.

There are also Arte Moreno’s problems as owner of the Angels. Even if the Dodgers offered him a huge return for Trout, he probably wouldn’t let him go.

It’s quite improbable that Trout will be traded, but it’s also not out of the question. The odds of Trout staying with the Angels for the 2019 season are low, but stranger things have happened.
