Important wins for Denmark and England thanks to goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford

In the 2024 European Championship qualifiers, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford, both of whom play for Manchester United, scored goals that were decisive.

Hojlund has been performing admirably as of late, scoring twice and assisting on a third in Man United’s disappointing 3-2 loss to Galatasaray and then again in Denmark’s 3-1 triumph against Kazakhstan.

The 20-year-old striker has already scored six goals in the qualification round, earning him comparisons to Manchester City and Norway star Erling Braut Haaland.

In Denmark’s 2-1 triumph over San Marino on Tuesday night, he made sure to add to his tally with a moment of excellence, rifling a thundering shot into the back of the net from an acute angle.

He now has seven goals for the season, tying him for second place in the league with Harry Kane of England, who he helped put on the map with his excellent performance.

Rashford, who plays with England’s club squad, also shone for his country, scoring a goal that ensured England’s spot in the World Cup Finals in Germany next year.

The goal by Rashford is a tremendous relief for the Man United star, who had gone nine games without scoring for club or country after scoring in a 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the beginning of September.

Rashford’s form has plummeted in 2023/24 after he led Man United to Carabao Cup glory and a third-place finish previous season with 30 goals and 11 assists in 56 appearances.

The Englishman hopes his goal for England will trigger a turnaround in his lackluster season so far, as he has only recorded one goal and one assist in eight Premier League games.

When Man United head to play newly promoted Sheffield United this weekend, boss Erik ten Hag will look for similar performances from Hojlund and Rashford.

The Red Devils have won 12 points in eight games and are looking for their first consecutive Premier League victories of the season.
