Lionel Messi will go to Charlotte with Inter Miami CF to play in the team’s last Major League Soccer match.
Prior to Messi’s team practice on Friday, Miami assistant coach Javier Morales stated that the Argentina international would be available to play on Saturday.
“He’s planning a trip. How long he plays will be decided tomorrow, according to Morales.
Since September 3, Messi’s lone appearances and total minutes played for Miami have been limited by a muscle ailment. On Tuesday, he participated in 90 minutes of play for the first time in six weeks during Argentina’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying victory over Peru.
“It goes without saying that having Lionel Messi on the team inspires everyone.” For football, we know what he means,” Morales remarked. It is always beneficial for us to have him on the squad and available to play and compete. We’re glad he’s back and at full strength. We’ll see him play tomorrow.”
Messi entered the game as a substitute in the Herons’ 1-0 home loss to FC Cincinnati on October 7, which ended their chances of making the playoffs.
Messi will play on artificial turf for the first time in his MLS career on Sunday at BofA Stadium in Charlotte.
The Inter-Miami players will have a few weeks off after the Charlotte game before reuniting in November for a two-game trip to China.
With only a win to secure one of the final Eastern Conference postseason slots, Charlotte is still in the running for the playoffs.
He plays when he plays. Regarding the prospect of playing Messi, Charlotte coach Christian Lattanzio stated, “And we have to deal with it.”
“We must play our game and keep our attention on ourselves. Additionally, we hope that our supporters, who have always been there for us, will truly stand by the boys.
