Striker Kylian Mbappe delivered a spectacular performance, propelling Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to a resounding 3-0 victory over Strasbourg. With this win, PSG, under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, moved within one point of Ligue 1 leaders Nice.

Coach Luis Enrique fielded his strongest lineup, featuring the attacking trio of Mbappe, Goncalo Ramos, and Lee Kang In when hosting Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes in the ninth round of Ligue 1. PSG took an early lead, just 10 minutes into the game, as they were awarded a penalty following a foul on Goncalos Ramos in the penalty area. Mbappe confidently stepped up to convert the spot-kick, opening the scoring for the home team.

The early goal provided PSG players with a sense of comfort, and they maintained active control of the game. In the 31st minute, Mbappe produced a brilliant assist, setting up Carlos Soler for a close-range finish, extending PSG’s lead to two goals. With his assist to Soler, Mbappe notched his first assist of the season. Moreover, his opening goal against Strasbourg marked his eighth goal in Ligue 1 and his ninth in all competitions, including the one against Dortmund in the Champions League group stage. In the second half, Strasbourg made efforts to push forward and narrow the deficit but paid the price for leaving themselves vulnerable to PSG’s quick counterattack in the 77th minute. Midfielder Fabian Ruiz displayed skill and finesse as he bypassed two opposing defenders in the penalty area, elegantly sealing a 3-0 victory for the home team.

Although this victory wasn’t enough for PSG to regain the top spot in Ligue 1, they are now within a single point of leaders Nice. If Monaco secures a victory in their match today (October 22), PSG will temporarily drop to third place in the standings.
