According to Front Office Sports, basketball icon LeBron James, aged 38, has reportedly made the decision to demolish his existing house and construct his envisioned “dream home” from scratch. The 13,000-square-foot Spanish Mission-style mansion, acquired by James in 2020, has been a subject of attention for its picturesque features.

 

Three years ago, upon the property’s purchase, James initiated a legal battle to secure building permits for the reconstruction of the 2.5-acre plot. The estate boasted amenities like a pool and pool house, tennis courts, and one of Los Angeles’ largest driveway gates, as reported by various sources.

 

Before the demolition process, the residence showcased impressive elements such as vaulted ceilings, seven fireplaces, four bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a screening room, a trophy room, and a breakfast courtyard with a teal-tiled fountain, as detailed by House Beautiful.

 

While the exact design of James’ new home remains uncertain, speculations suggest that the four-time NBA champion might opt for a sleeker aesthetic, potentially moving away from the bronze sculptures that adorned the property. James has previously embraced a contemporary approach in his other residences, including a 12,000-square-foot Miami mansion and his primary dwelling in Brentwood, California, featuring all-white interiors and a minimalist style.

 

Anticipation surrounds the outcome of this rebuilt home, which could serve as James’ retirement haven from the NBA when the time comes. Despite James contemplating retirement publicly following the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss in the Western Conference Finals to the eventual champion Denver Nuggets in May, he is widely expected to return for his 21st season in the upcoming fall.
