Leroy Sane, a winger for Bayern Munich, has reportedly emerged as Liverpool’s top target to replace Mohamed Salah should the Egyptian move to Saudi Arabia. According to The Mirror, Liverpool is willing to pay a club record transfer fee to acquire Sane. An agreement for Sane would exceed Liverpool’s signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica in 2022, who cost £64.2 million plus £21.4 million in add-ons.
Germany international Sane has garnered the attention of Jurgen Klopp, who hopes to re-sign him to play in the Premier League. Sane won two Premier League championships, one FA Cup, and three League Cups while playing for Manchester City. Salah has gotten off to a fantastic start in the Premier League, with five goals and four assists in eight games.
The 31-year-old is expected to leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia in January. During the summer transfer window, Salah was linked to a move to Saudi Arabia, and Al-Ittihad reportedly made a £150 million offer for his services. Salah’s contract at Anfield only has fewer than two years left, so he may decide to go. Salah has played 315 games for Liverpool and has scored 192 goals in his career. Sane has scored six goals in seven Bundesliga games this season, therefore Bayern would be reluctant to lose him.
