Let’s escape, Mbappe: 12 years of PSG is not equal to 2 years of Newcastle

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has always been famous for its strong investment and great ambition in conquering the UEFA Champions League title. However, after 12 years and much money poured in, PSG has still not been able to rise to the top of European glory. The years have only pushed PSG further away from this lofty goal, and what caused them to fail to win?

The arrival of top stars, such as Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, and Lionel Messi, has created great expectations for PSG. The recruitment of Mbappé in 2017 made transfer history with a record price at that time, showing PSG’s determination to hold on to one of the best young talents in the world. However, expensive shopping does not guarantee the Champions League title.

Besides investing heavily in the squad, constant changes in the coaching staff and instability in management have also contributed to creating difficulties for PSG. The departure of many top coaches and the construction of new squads each season have created instability and difficulty in building a unified team.

Although PSG have splashed big, they have never shown the steadfastness needed to win the Champions League. Comparison with Newcastle United, a club that does not have the same popularity and financial strength but has won the title in a shorter period of time, is a testament to PSG’s failure.

PSG is still continuing their journey in conquering the Champions League title, and with a strong squad and the determination of their top stars, they still have a chance in the future. However, they need to learn from their failures and improve their stability on both the financial and physical fronts if they want to turn their dreams into reality.
