Wataru Endo is poised to potentially make his full debut for Liverpool against Newcastle United on Sunday, following his transfer from VfB Stuttgart, where he was highly esteemed.
Hansi Muller, a former star of VfB Stuttgart with over 150 appearances for the club, expressed his surprise and disappointment at Endo’s departure to Liverpool. Muller referred to Endo as a “complete player” and lamented his exit from the MHPArena.
Despite being captain at Stuttgart, Endo swiftly made the £16 million move to Anfield and made his debut for Liverpool in the second half of their recent victory over Bournemouth.
Muller acknowledged the difficulty of replacing a player like Endo, who was integral to the team, and understood that when a player aspires to fulfill their dream in England, it’s best not to hold them back.
Regarding Endo’s potential role at Liverpool, manager Jurgen Klopp indicated that while it’s still early days, Endo has the potential to contribute to the team.
Klopp highlighted that Endo joined Liverpool with limited preparation time, and despite the challenge of defending with ten players in his debut, he performed exceptionally. Klopp also noted that Endo had been training with the team for several sessions and looked promising, emphasizing his quality as a player.
With neither Curtis Jones nor Thiago Alcantara available to face Newcastle United, it’s expected that Wataru Endo may earn his first start for Liverpool during their upcoming match at St James’ Park.
