Liverpool is actively pursuing a January transfer for Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to a report from Fichajes, the Premier League club is making significant progress in their efforts to secure the player’s signature, engaging in advanced negotiations with the German club.
Hincapie, an Ecuadorian international, has played a crucial role for Bayer Leverkusen over the past year and is viewed as a valuable long-term addition for Liverpool.
The Reds are looking to strengthen their defensive options, with only Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate currently considered reliable defenders. To enhance their squad depth and quality, Liverpool is eager to secure Hincapie’s services, potentially as an upgrade to players like Joel Matip.
Hincapie’s versatility to play as a full-back adds further appeal, providing support during periods of rotation and injuries. Under the guidance of manager Jurgen Klopp, the 21-year-old has the potential to develop into an elite central defender, making him an ideal prospect for Liverpool.
It is reported that a deal could be reached for approximately €55 million, a fee well within Liverpool’s financial means.
