Liverpool plans to make two January additions as long-term target’seeks move’

According to reports, Liverpool is looking to make two acquisitions during the upcoming January transfer window. Despite reports that promising attacker Youssoufa Moukoko is willing to leave Borussia Dortmund this winter, a move for Moukoko is thought to be doubtful.

This summer, Liverpool spent nearly $140 million on four new players. After losing five players at the end of last season, Jurgen Klopp had to oversee a complete reorganization of his midfield.

Early birds were Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, while late birds included Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch. Since joining the team, both Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have made eight consecutive starts in the Premier League.

But it seems that Klopp does not consider his midfield to be finished just yet. According to 90min, he has his sights set on bringing in a new midfielder during the upcoming transfer window.

Klopp is also interested in adding depth to his team’s defense. Both Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip have had trouble staying healthy, and at 32 years old, Virgil van Dijk can no longer be counted on to play three games each week.

Klopp wants to strengthen his squad in the middle of the field and at center back in the new year. Despite Moukoko’s availability, he is not likely to make an attacking addition.

The 18-year-old is reportedly looking to leave Dortmund on loan, as reported by 90min. Last year, he scored seven goals in 26 Bundesliga games, but this year he has only made four substitute appearances.

Moukoko hopes to convince the German national team to include him on their roster for the next Euro 2024 tournament. At the World Cup in Qatar last November, he made his national team debut at the tender age of 17.

Klopp, who coached at Dortmund previously, is rumored to be a longtime admirer of Moukoko, but a transfer to Liverpool in the upcoming January transfer window seems doubtful. The same source also claims that Brentford and Wolves are monitoring the adolescent’s condition.

Since Niclas Fullkrug joined Dortmund this summer, Moukoko’s playing time has diminished. However, manager Edin Terzic recently stated that no discussions regarding a possible departure had taken place.

He emphasized that the club and Youssoufa Moukoko have no plans to sell him during the offseason. After Niclas Fullkrug’s summer arrival, conversations took place to accommodate Youssoufa’s need for playing time.

“Despite a competitive squad, Youssoufa accepts the situation, trains rigorously, and the club believes in his potential and anticipates needing him in the future.”
