Sources: Man City may not keep Kevin De Bruyne – and this is why

If Kevin De Bruyne’s injury history gets worse, sources have warned Football Insider that he might not get a contract extension at Man City.

On Friday, October 20, Football Insider reported that the 31-year-old is still content at City as his lucrative deal expire

The contract for De Bruyne will end in June 2025.

According to a reliable source from Football Insider, there is currently no rush to initiate contract renewal discussions, with talks likely to occur approximately 12 months from now.

At this point, both parties are likely to express a willingness to negotiate a new deal. However, there are concerns arising regarding De Bruyne’s growing number of injury setbacks in recent seasons.

Presently, De Bruyne is sidelined due to a significant hamstring injury sustained on the first day of the Premier League season. It is anticipated that the Belgian midfielder will be out of action until the beginning of the new year.

De Bruyne has disclosed that he played through this issue during the final two months of the 2022-23 campaign, during which Manchester City achieved a remarkable treble. Throughout the season, he made a total of 49 appearances, impressively contributing 10 goals and 31 assists.

The ex-Wolfsburg star has been at the Etihad Stadium since joining for a reported £54million in 2015.

In that time he has managed 96 goals and 153 assists in 358 games for the club, winning five Premier League titles in the process.
