Man City officially announced the selection of the new club captain

The German defender Ilkay Gundogan said his farewell to Manchester City during the summer, but the club’s head coach Pep Guardiola already has other players in mind to fill the post of team captain left vacant by Gundogan’s departure.

During the most recent transfer window, Kyle Walker came incredibly close to finalizing a deal to play for Bayern Munich. Despite this, the English national team made the final decision to continue playing at Etihad Stadium and renewed their agreement with Manchester City for another three years.

Throughout the entirety of this season, Walker has been the one to don the captain’s armband for every game that The Citizens have participated in. Kevan De Bruyne took over as captain of the team for the club’s opening game of the season against Burnley, but he was forced to leave the pitch with a terrible injury before he could finish the game. This was the only time this rule was broken.

Pep waited until the end of the transfer window, as is typical, before putting the question of the new group of five captains up to a vote among his players. The five players who received the most votes were selected. As a direct result of this, in addition to Walker and De Bruyne, Rodr and Ruben Da were chosen by their team’s other players once more.

Bernardo Alva, a player who was also supposed to have parted ways with Manchester City but who eventually proceeded to play for the team for another three years after those rumors appeared, is the newest member of the group. Bernardo Alva is a player who was also reported to have parted ways with Manchester City. Like Walker, the Portuguese central midfielder has spent the previous six years playing for The Citizens, and as a result of his play, he has earned a berth as one of the five leaders of the team. Walker is also one of the club’s captains.

During an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Walker praised Bernardo Silva’s position and stated, “Bernardo has shown on the field how important he is to Manchester.” Walker was referring to Bernardo’s contributions on the pitch. Outside of the playing field, there are a lot of subjects about which you have no knowledge. If you pay attention to what Bernardo says, he will tell you that he has a wonderful relationship with the coach and that “if I want to rest, I’ll ask him.”
