Manchester United fans ridiculing his father motivated ERLING HAALAND to a derby double.
“Keano, Keano” and “Haaland, Haaland, how’s your dad?” were chanted at the Norwegian.
Manchester City star Erling Haaland silenced some Manchester United fans
Some Man Utd fans taunted Haaland’s father before he opened the scoring
It was an allusion to Roy Keane’s terrible derby challenge to Alfie Haaland in April 2001.
And Haaland Jr. answered by scoring a penalty and heading a second after halftime in a 3-0 victory.
“There were so many people singing ‘Keano’ — I don’t know why!” claimed the City striker. It served as an incentive for me.
“I was under pressure, but I scored, so it was a great feeling.” I gave them a good party.”
Haaland celebrated his penalty in front of the home crowd, not far from where Keane had knocked out his father with that awful challenge.
Former Manchester United captain and player Keane, 52, was a Sky Sports analyst watching the game.
He joked that the supporters were yelling about his former Republic of Ireland teammate, Robbie Keane.
But United had little to chuckle about following this Old Trafford annihilation, with Phil Foden scoring the third.
When asked if it was City’s best performance so far this season, Haaland responded, “I think so—in terms of controlling the game and playing the football we wanted to play.”
“It was a fantastic performance, a controlled 90-minute game, and every single City player delivered.”
“It was not easy but the way we kept going in the game was incredible.”
This season, Haaland has 11 Premier League goals, which is more than United’s entire roster.
When asked if beating City’s rivals in Manchester makes this victory even more special, he replied, “Of course.” In the grand scheme of things, there are three points.
“You need consistency in the competition throughout the season.”
“There are still 84 points so it’s just about getting three points week in, week out.”
Bernardo Silva was named man-of-the-match, and City manager Pep Guardiola described him as one of the best players he has ever worked with.
“He doesn’t wear earrings or have tattoos, and he drives a normal car,” Guardiola explained.
“He’s a fantastic player for us.” He enjoys playing at Old Trafford. He has previously served as a false nine for us.
“He is extremely intelligent. Everyone adores him, and he delivers another outstanding performance.
“He is one of the best players I’ve seen in my life for how intelligent he is.”
Guardiola felt his team accomplished everything perfectly except for the first few minutes.
Roy Keane was sent off after a horror challenge on Haaland’s dad, Alfie, in 2001
“The players always give their best for our fans, and we know how much it means to them,” he remarked.
“The first ten minutes we lost easy balls but after that we took control.”
Pep continued about Haaland, who scored 52 goals in all competitions last season: “He could have scored four, he moves incredibly well in the box, we are lucky to have him.”
“I know he has 50 goals and people expect him to have 70.” He’s a top-tier player.”
City fans flocked to social media to applaud Haaland’s retaliation against home fans.
“‘Haaland, how’s your dad?'” one tweeted. That is the most humiliating thing I have ever heard.”
“Man United fans chanting ‘Keano’ and ‘Haaland, how’s your dad?'” said another.
“Haaland, how’s your father?” said a third. He’s well, thanks. I’m just sitting here watching the world’s [sic] most prolific goal scorer play for Europe’s [sic] top football team.”
“Haaland will always love scoring at Old Trafford..”
And this one wrote, “Was it ‘Haaland, how’s your dad?'” Well, he was smiling and pleased yesterday, and I’m sure he’s having a great time seeing his son score.”
