Man United will buy “new Messi” to replace Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United (MU) has initiated a significant strategy aimed at securing Thiago Almada as a potential replacement for Bruno Fernandes in his current role. MU’s leadership has swiftly launched a campaign to enhance their attacking prowess in the year 2024, with Thiago Almada emerging as the primary target.

The club is currently enduring one of the worst starts to a season in its history, with six losses in ten matches across various competitions. Erik ten Hag’s squad has been struggling with cohesion, displaying a lack of motivation and unity on the field.

Following a disappointing defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League, the fans at Old Trafford have directed their frustrations towards team captain Bruno Fernandes. Although Coach Ten Hag entrusted Bruno Fernandes with the captain’s armband during the pre-season, the Portuguese midfielder has failed to exhibit strong leadership qualities.

In crucial moments, both in terms of gameplay and psychological factors, Bruno Fernandes has been found wanting. During the team’s two Champions League losses, Bruno Fernandes consistently performed below expectations. A tactical adjustment by Ten Hag, moving Bruno to the wing rather than his traditional “number 10” role, seemed to make him more comfortable and improved the team’s overall performance.

This is why MU is considering recruiting Thiago Almada, one of the top playmakers in the American Professional Soccer League (MLS). MU initially expressed interest in Almada, often dubbed the “new Messi,” back in 2020 when he was a rising star at Velez Sarsfield and a standout player for the U20 Argentina team.

However, after numerous discussions, the “Red Devils” opted not to pursue a transfer agreement, allowing Almada to join Atlanta United in February 2022. The 22-year-old Argentine has been in fine form, notching 11 goals in the current MLS season and leading the league with 14 assists.

MU has decided to rekindle their interest in Thiago Almada, who has also attracted attention from Liverpool, as they seek a new orchestrator at Old Trafford, potentially shifting Bruno Fernandes to the wing to alleviate pressure on him.
