The Manchester City midfielder was left writhing in agony after his failed acrobatics
For City’s last Champions League group stage game, Pep Guardiola gave Nunes his tenth start of the year.
But minutes into the second half, he was nearly sent off.
The Portugal international looked as though he tried an overhead kick and hurt his shoulder.
After that, he lay down in pain and was attended to by the club’s medical team before continuing.
Supporters expressed their concerns about the situation on social media quite quickly.
A supporter commented, “Matheus Nunes that was unnecessary.”
“Please don’t break yourself Matheus Nunes,” someone else said.
“Matheus Nunes is the type of guy to get injured while attempting a bicycle kick,” remarked a third admirer in the meantime.

Micah Hamilton’s first goal for City was made possible by Nunes, who had a fantastic game.
Despite a late comeback by Red Star, Kalvin Phillips’ penalty sealed a 3-2 victory after fellow rookie Oscar Bobb had doubled the visitor’s lead.
Since City had won every game in group G, they had already been officially declared the winners of the group going into Wednesday’s game.
Regarding Nunes, the 25-year-old finished his £47 million summer transfer from Wolves to the Etihad Stadium.
Since then, in 13 games across all competitions this season, he has contributed three assists.
