MB.03 of LaMelo Ball gets a chic Chinese New Year makeover in honor of the Year of the Dragon

Despite signing a maximum agreement with the Charlotte Hornets, LaMelo Ball’s 2023–24 season hasn’t gone according to plan. Injuries have been the most prominent aspect of his season. Yet, Ball’s status as one of the NBA’s most promising young players is undeniable.

One company that has benefited greatly from Melo’s success is Puma, a sneaker brand. The latest iteration of Ball’s MB.03 sneaker, developed in collaboration with Puma, features an Eastern aesthetic.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year in February, Puma will release MB.03 “Year of the Dragon” in January. The sneaker will be available in the classic Puma color combination of peach and gold. Clаw marks appear on the shoe’s mesh upper, which is the main material of construction. What could be a dragon’s clаw marks are these peachy colors.

An inscription reading “RARE” accompanied by a dragon’s fire spewing from its beak appears on the shoe’s tongue. Perched peach, the words “Not From Here” appear just above the vamp, where the laces begin in the eyelets of LaMelo’s jersey, No. 1. On the reverse side, near the heel, you can see the Puma emblem, the letters M.E.L.O. 1.1.1, and the phrase “One of One.”

There have been rumors that the “Year of the Dragon” PUMA MB.03 dropped on December 29, 2023. Nevertheless, not every Puma store carries the sneaker. The basketball sneaker is a joint creation of Puma and Ball’s “LaFrance” label. It will soon be available in stores and costs $120.
